Which relationship has taught you the most about yourself?

Hmmm… this one made me pause.

Because, sometimes we think relationships are about learning the other person, their likes, dislikes, their habits, their quirks, the things that made us laugh and the things that made us quietly ask “how did I find myself in this?” lol

Honestly, sometimes the biggest lesson isn’t about the person standing in front of you.

It’s actually about you.

Some relationships have thought me how I love. How I communicate. What I give my energy to. What I need. What I need to let go of. And, most importantly, what I should probably stop making excuses for.

Some taught me patience.

Some taught me boundaries.

Some taught me that I don’t need to lose myself in the process of caring deeply for someone.

And some? Well let’s just say an expensive lesson was learnt…lol

But perhaps that’s the thing about relationships.

Not every relationship is meant to stay forever.

Some leave behind memories. Some leave behind scars. Some leave behind wisdom. And some leave you with a story you can only laugh about much later.

So maybe the real question isn’t:

“What did this relationship teach me about them?”

Maybe it’s more about:

“What did this relationship reveal about me?”

And in the end? Those are usually the lessons worth keeping.
