How easy it is for the birds to live without care,
For what they’ll eat or what they’ll wear.
The more I try not to care,
Mere thoughts seem to scare.

Graceful it is for the gazelle to sway,
Never stumbling along its way.
Hence, I try my hand at life’s runway,
But alas! I dare not say,
What an epic fail!

Where do I go from here?
Emptiness engulfs me
In its coarse and ever-so-firm grip,
Smothering me to bits.

I want to give it my all,
But life seems to take away its shawl,
Leaving me naked, confused, and shattered
In cold, odious claws..
Battered!

To what do I owe this fate?
Drowning deeply in this state.
Oh well… I am losing faith,
Ever so slowly bending beneath its weight.

Lingering depression at the brink,
And my appetite it whets,
Coercing me to drink
From its goblets.

But then I grope
For redemption’s ropes,
Hoping not to rot,
Hoping somehow not to be lost…

…All alone with my thoughts.
