Imagine a genie appears out of nowhere and says:
“You have one wish. Choose wisely.”
One wish?
My first instinct would be to ask for money. lol
Because let’s be honest, bills are not paying themselves and adulthood is expensive.
But knowing me, I’d probably stand there for a few seconds, trying to negotiate.
“One wish?“
“Yes”
“As in ONE one?“
“Yes”
“Can I wish for five wishes?”
“No”
“What if I ask nicely?”
The genie would probably disappear. lol
But then I’d get serious.
Because if I could really have one wish, would I ask for money? Success? A perfect life?
Probably not.
I think I’d ask for the ability to make one thing in my life right.
Not everything.
Just one thing.
And honestly, that thought hit me harder than I expected.
Because there are things in life that I’ve laughed about, prayed about, overthought, avoided, accepted and occasionally pretended that I had completely figured out.
You know those things.
The things you don’t necessarily talk about at dinner.
The things you quietly carry while telling everyone, “I’m fine”.
Not because my life is terrible.
It isn’t.
But because sometimes you can be grateful for your life and still wish one part of it were different.
Maybe it’s something that needs healing.
Maybe it’s a decision that needs clarity.
Maybe it’s the courage to finally let go of something I know I’ve outgrown.
Or maybe (and this one feels especially personal) I’d wish to stop being so hard on myself for not having everything figured out yet.
Because sometimes, we think what we need is more.
More money.
More success.
More opportunities.
More recognition.
But maybe what we really need is for one thing to finally fall into place,
One relationship.
One decision.
One part of ourselves we’ve been struggling to accept.
One thing that, when made right, gives us a little more room to breathe.
Maybe we don’t need a completely different life.
Maybe we need one part of the life we already have to finally make sense.
So, if a genie showed up today and handed you one wish…
Forget the money for a second.
Forget the perfect career, the dream house, the unlimited bank account.
What is the ONE thing you would make right?
And please…
If your first thought was “I need five wishes,” just know you’re my kind of person. lol
Now excuse me while I go find that genie.
I have some negotiating to do.
READ. FEEL. REFLECT. THEN TALK TO ME. I’d love to hear from YOU.
